On Track! (Devlog #1 v19.01.22)
This devlog has been a long time coming...
The game is really starting to take shape now as I'm placing in a lot of the main mechanics. The game is mostly using primitives (art wise) thus far but I'm trying to slot in the occasional placeholder asset when I get the chance. The way I've been approaching it is to block in the mechanics and how they interact first and then tweak them later in order to progress faster. The player can run around their train and arrive at shops to buy cargo from. So far these systems are automatic and seamless and I'm quite pleased with how they've turned out. The system for the carts took more work than I had initially anticipated. However, I feel as if I have implemented a problem free solution for the future of this project.
I'm going to start to tweak the shops so that they can be randomised each time the player comes across one. I will also work on allowing the player to fuel their train when the fuel starts to deplete.
